General Outline of Shiga Bunkyo Junior College
Bunkyo Junior College was founded in 1952, and since then we have fostered human resources that are intelligent, sentiments, and are able to contribute society. The sound bodies and minds of our students form a good combination of three factors: intelligence, virtue, and bodily health, as the foundations of building character. Our junior college motto is, “Faith, sincerity, austerity, kindness, and gradual advancement.” On campus, our educational facilities include a well-stocked library, internet room, audio-visual room, information processing room, and gymnasium, and a women’s dormitory for students from distant places. Under such a fulfilling environment and with a small number of students in each classroom, we foster human resources that possess a great deal of knowledge and high sensibilities, adaptable to contemporary society by means of their thorough education.

Japanese Literature Department
Japanese Literature Course
This course has subjects such as Japanese language, Japanese literature, and Chinese classics, and students can improve their skills in their chosen language while deepening their specialized knowledge and technical skills as well.
Calligraphy Course
Students learn Japanese literature through calligraphy that has served to heighten the Japanese people’s sense of aesthetics, and brought about flavor in life as one of the traditional arts. Students not only improve their calligraphy skills but also study history and theories of calligraphy.
Elementary
Education Department
Elementary Education Course
This course aims to develop teachers of elementary schools and kindergartens. Students can study individual subjects and special subjects, learning to teach broadly and deeply, in order to become teachers with accomplishments and capabilities.
Education Information Course
Students in this course aim at receiving a kindergarten teacher’s license. We also make efforts to develop each student’s information processing abilities in order for students to be active in multi media society.
Qualifications and Licenses
Students who graduate from Shiga Bunkyo Junior College receive a degree stating, “graduate of junior college” (accreditation pending). Students who pass prescribed credits receive the following qualifications and licenses: ・Kindergarten teacher・Elementary school teacher・Junior high school teacher・Librarian・Librarian of school libraries
Course for Lidrarians
Since 1996, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Shiga Bunkyo Junior College has provided a course for librarians. A number of librarians participate in this course every year.
Dormitory
Our international students live in this dormitory. Most commodities are provided, and the room and board fees are low.
